For the Loved Ones NVA Fellowship Showcase
A devised dance performance about a cancer diagnosis by Lilea Alvarez for the Dea Hurston New Village Arts Professional Fellowship final showcase.
For the Loved Ones is a first go at a brand new concept. We follow a pair of siblings and a young woman who meet as they each traverse the territory of their loved ones having cancer. This piece is told through contemporary dance accented with spoken word as we experience the breathtaking journey both families go through together. Ultimately the piece is a heartfelt exploration of how we support one another by simply being together.
